Ram is shaking up the truck world with a warranty offer that’s making serious waves. The automaker has just unveiled a class-leading standard warranty for its 2026 model-year 1500 pickups, heavy-duty trucks, and commercial vans—an eye-catching move aimed at winning over buyers from rivals like Ford, Chevy, and GMC.

Starting with the 2026 lineup, Ram will now offer an industry-best 5-year/100,000-mile (about 160,000 km) powertrain warranty on all gas-powered trucks and vans. This new coverage replaces the previous 5-year/60,000-mile plan, representing a massive 66% increase in mileage coverage. It also significantly surpasses the standard coverage offered by most competitors, including Ford’s and Chevrolet’s 5-year/60,000-mile warranties.

The warranty upgrade applies to the following:

  • Ram 1500 pickup

  • Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models

  • Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City commercial vans

“This is about giving customers more peace of mind,” said Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis in a statement. “Our trucks are built to work, and now they come with a warranty that works just as hard.”

Interestingly, the new 100K warranty doesn’t apply to the Ram 1500 REV (Ram’s upcoming all-electric truck) or any electrified variants—at least not yet. Those vehicles will have separate warranty structures, likely based on battery coverage.

While some brands have introduced promotional extended warranties in the past, Ram’s decision to make this a standard offer across its core gas-powered lineup is what sets it apart. It’s a calculated bet that truck buyers—especially fleet operators and commercial users—will be drawn to a brand that not only talks tough but backs it up.

Why It Matters

Pickup and van buyers tend to hold onto their vehicles longer, and durability is a top concern—especially in hard-use industries like construction, logistics, and farming. By offering more coverage, Ram is hoping to remove one more reason to consider the competition.

With this move, Ram isn’t just throwing punches—it’s trying to redefine what long-term value means in the truck space. If Ford or GM responds with similar warranty expansions, the next few months could get very interesting.

For now, Ram’s new warranty is a win for customers—and a challenge for everyone else.
